58 ... Things I Love (chocolate)
My husband is from Austria. For his birthday, his parents sent him an original sacher torte all the way from Vienna. Mmmmm!

No schedule. No making lunches. No getting up while it's still dark out. No driving kids here and there.
Happy weekending!

I'll be busy for a couple of days. :)

I'm sure I'd have no problem living in Portland or Seattle. I love a rainy day.

My first born is a people person just like her dad. She is inherently persuasive, friendly to everyone, and thrives on interacting with others. In Idaho, kids can get their driver's permit and license at 14. She is chomping at the bit and I'm dragging my feet. I know as soon as she's mobile, we won't see much of her. They grow up too fast.
A better view

He and I are cut from the same mold. We're both introverts, love to spend quiet time alone, and have an affinity for sarcasm. Being acutely observant with a dry sense of humor makes for lots of laughter in our family. And it's helped him survive his first year of middle school.

Good old fashioned paper mail in an envelope with a stamp pasted on. I also like email but it's just not the same as being able to pluck it out of your mailbox, rip open the envelope and read what's inside. (Unless it's a bill, of course).
My elderly neighbor stopped by as I was kneeling in front of my mailbox (trying to get the focus to fall on my face rather than the side of the mailbox) to see if I needed any help. LOL. They think I'm nuts. I tried my best to explain what I was doing but I don't think he quite "got" it.

This is my third born. He's inherently kind, careful, a rule follower to a T (I can't get away with anything), and so smart. He'd much rather read a book than play outside. But he agreed to play basketball this spring and so far it's all good. He and his little brother are the best of friends.

This is my baby. My last born. He's FULL of personality. He couldn't wait to join in the fun and arrived 10 weeks early. Always up for anything with anyone. Everyone, from little kids to high schoolers to adults, knows him by name. This is my last year having him home with me. He's headed to kindergarten in the fall. It'll be bittersweet.

My first maternity session. I was totally nervous and researched the heck out of it beforehand. I love the images I captured. Yay for a successful session!

That doesn't happen often enough. But today, for at least a few minutes, they were clean. :)

I used to take my older kids all the time when they were little. We went to Mommy & Me classes there and weekly storytime. Now that they're older, life gets crazy with activities, sports, and lessons. My youngest and I don't go as often as we should. So today we headed to the library in search of every available book they had about pirates. We came home with a stack that should last us at least our allotted three weeks.

I'm a little addicted. You can keep your People and OK! magazines. There's nothing like a brand new House Beautiful with its glossy pages and gorgeous photos. Cottage Living was my favorite but it has since gone the way of the economy. This is my collection from our major remodel four years ago and subsequent new home project when we moved two years after that to the home we're in now.
I don't buy them as often as I used to but every now and then, I'll pick one up at the grocery store and languish in a little bit of heaven within the pages of a home magazine.

Not warm, not lukewarm, not comfortably warm. Hot! So hot it has a bite to it and makes your skin lobster red. Ahhhh, the best way to warm up.
And if there's any chance there's a clean, dry towel left, even better!

And kids who like to locate and read about the countries that the athletes are from. They are so much better at geography than I am!

This is Molly. She's a 65 pound goldendoodle. It's taken me a good three years to learn to love her. But she and I have found neutral ground and we co-exist just fine now.

I love homemade bread. It love the way the house smells. I love it in the winter. I love it with a bowl of hot soup. I love it warm with a smear of cold butter. Homemade bread. Mmmmm!

I love to sleep. I think sleep is highly under-rated. I'm a much happier mom, wife, friend, sister, daughter, and overall person when I've had adequate sleep.
(This could have been the I love Portraiture pic since it did wonders to take away my sun-damaged, wrinkled, blotchy skin.)
*I posted a bunch of photos from our trip on my family blog. I think the link is at the top of this blog.

I love good neighbors. We came home this morning, after flying the red-eye, to a fridge full of food and dinner and dessert for this evening. We really do have the best neighbor ever!

I love family vacations. A chance to get out of the rut of daily life. A chance to play together and chill together with no agenda in sight.
Flying back to the rut tonight.

I love the curiosity of my kids. I love that they want to learn and discover and ask questions. I love that they wonder how the world works. I hope they never lose that curiosity.

I love a good book. I just finished Nicholas Spark's predictable Dear John and I'm ready to see the movie. Now I'm reading Diana Gabaldon's Dragonfly in Amber.

My family is the most important to me. A husband who works hard and would do anything for me and 4 amazing kids that I would do anything for.
*Thank you for all the wonderful comments! I promise to get back to reading and commenting on everyone's blogs when we get home.

I joined a Flickr group for February called 28 Things I Love in February. And, I must admit, I haven't been keeping track of the days as we're enjoying our vacation and I forgot that it's Me Monday. But since I posted my pasty white legs yesterday, you've probably seen enough of me for awhile.
I've got two pics for today. :)
I love the beach! I grew up taking vacations with my family to Hawaii many times and Jamaica once. We moved to a little resort town on the shore of Long Island Sound in Connecticut when I was in high school. Our footballs games were played on the field at the beach club. When I got married, we lived about an hour from the Pacific Ocean in California.
I now live a good day's drive from the ocean And it still isn't close enough. I cherish every chance I get to visit the beach. It's a little heaven on earth to me.
My oldest and youngest. Love em!
